Once upon a starry night
when I was just a child
I gazed into the winter sky
and found myself beguiled.

It started with the distant sound,
of jingle bells on high
when soon a team of reindeer
came dashing through the sky.
***
They pulled a jolly bearded man
all swathed in red and white,
His booming laughter filled the air
on that frosty winter's night.
***
Upon his knee was placed a sack
crammed with lots of toys,
enchanting gifts placed there with love
for little girls and boys.
***
He stopped upon a roof top
and clambered quickly out
then down the chimney he swiftly flew
despite him being stout!!!
***
The reindeer waited patiently
on the snow clad frosted roof
Santa appeared when the red-nosed leader
softly stamped his hoof.
***
They continued on their journey,
Santa and his team
Children oblivious to it all
as in their beds they dream.
***
So if you should hear those sleigh bells
and see that wonderous sight,
Remember the joy that Santa brings,
on that starry winter's night.
